Umrao Jaan

I read some bad reviews on the net, about "Umrao Jaan", the movie with Aischwarya Rai, about music, and even about the movie himself.

Well, I don't understand very much because I think that film is great: songs are not of those you will remember and sing easily under the shower, but they give a strong feeling, are so peacefull and sad, and I adore it.

Movie is great as well: this story made me upset and tells so much about human conditions: characters are bound to react the way they do because of their social condition, sense oh honour... But you can see there is a fight inside themselves between feelings and that sense of honour. In fact they are prisonner in a system that can only bring pain and sadness, but respecting the rules of that system is more important than everything else: Umrao Jaan is a kind of tragedy, just like Antigone or that kind of very old stuffs.
